I’m Erma, a fiber artist and designer, from Tirana, Albania.
I started with arts at an early age (mostly in acrylic and oil paintings), till I suddenly discovered this fabulous material- “wool”, which absolutely has become my art medium. I was very intrigued to learn, about wet felting techniques as a start, than everything later is about web researches and hard work practicing. The decision to keep doing art by wool came naturally, as I finally found there the functionality. Than I start thinking as a designer, placing my masterpieces where can be useful, not just for decor, insisting very much in commodity. The collaboration with some local interior studios, encouraged me to launch my work globally. My latest project is to challenge the nature in every details of it’s perfect imperfections, by creating stones and pebbles from felt to be used as rugs and floor cushions.
The process needs very much time to give the astonishing results, but every second spending is worth, when you see the final creation. Felting make you never know how it will be in the end. You are just there to help the wool of shaping itself at the way it wants. It’s like a little magic all the time... Now, some other enthusiast “magicians” has join the team, helping a lot in some stages of the process. They are friends and family members, learning everyday more and having so much fun in our little studio.
